Best vacation ever!!! This hotel is in the heart of Waikiki...we did not rent a car or use a taxi the whole time we were there. We could walk to everything in the area and all of the tours we took picked us up at the hotel or at locations within walking distance. We were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary along with my birthday during the trip. When we checked in, we were given a box of chocolates and a box of cookies and were told Congratulations! The next day, we received another box of chocolates with two orchids. The view from our room was spectacular. Breakfasts at Jimmy Buffet's were good. It was fun sitting at the Jimmy Buffet's Bar talking with Collin the Bartender...nice guy and he gave us some good tips about the Island. Pool area is small but very comfortable and we used it alot. The Magic of Polynesian show was very good. James at the Expedia Help Desk was awesome and so helpful in booking us a Helicopter Tour as well as a private Island tour. The maid on our floor (25th) was a beautiful woman...so nice, always greeting us with a happy smile and "Aloha" and asking if we needed anything. I did alot of research before booking our trip and I was surprised at the number of things people complained about in their reviews. Yes...you need to use your key card when going on the Elevator but it was never a problem. I found a sense of security in this feature. We decided against renting a car because of the high cost of parking and never once did we miss having a vehicle. Yes, there is a big construction site next to the hotel and they started early in the morning but really, it wasn't that much of a disruption. One day my husband counted 12 large construction cranes in the area...so there are ALOT of hotels that have construction going on around them. The Waikiki Beach area is a busy and noisy place but it is also such a beautiful and exciting place...so you look past those little annoying things and realize that you are in Hawaii on vacation...quit complaining and enjoy yourself!!! We will be back again and we will be staying at the Beachcomber!
